The wine

Thanks to a great, by now historical, human experience, Anna and Ernesto Abbona, together with their children Valentina and Davide, are faithful interpreters of the diversity of the native places and the vines, strictly respecting and preserving their typicality thanks to the vinification of the grapes coming from their own vineyards and from selected wine-growers in many years of activity, favouring location and the farming capacity of the individual vineyards.

All the most important Piedmontese denominations, from the perspective of the most historic winery of Barolo which was founded with the unification of Italy, become lively, genuine and modern wines. Apart from the Barolo, of which the Marchesi family - today the Abbona family - are among the leaders, the younger brothers also stand out for drinkability and crunchiness. There is Ruvei, an amazing Barbera d'Alba, aged in large barrels as per usual, full, rich but at the same time fresh and dazzling. Includes a 15% portion of Nebbiolo.

Among the most typical wines of Piedmont, the Barbera d'Alba Ruvei of the Marquises of Barolo responds to the traditional characteristics of the local grapes. At sight it has a deep ruby red color with purple hues; notes of red fruit jam intertwine with hints of spice, vanilla and dried fruit. The taste is full and enveloping, with a slightly evident acidic vein. Clear, but well blended with the remaining sensations, the woody note. Barbera is a whole meal wine, complete on any occasion. It goes very well with tasty appetizers, first courses with rich condiments and second courses with meat, boiled or roasted, but it also enhances traditional soups. It is the ideal companion for snacks with fresh salami and hard cheeses.
