The wine

Plenio is the most representative, award-winning wine from the Umani Ronchi winery, made using grapes from a unique vineyard of 9 hectares lying close to the town of Cupramontana. The Verdicchio, a difficult grape which prefers mountainous and breezy regions, has encountered on these gentle slopes in the Marche district an ideal habitat, enabling it to express itself perfectly in full, complex and well-structured white wines.

Plenio falls into this general description and exhibits fine aromas of ripe tropical fruits, mint and aniseed. On the palate it appears enveloping, with a most pleasurable sensation that combines powerfulness and smoothness. Its sweet aromas of honey and ripe fruit, the grape's typical almond hints, and a flavoursome minerality are comprised in an exquisite mouthful with a very long finish.

In order to enjoy it in all its fullness, it is advisable not to serve it too chilled (between 10 and 12 degrees). Ideal for accompanying white meats, mushrooms and stuffed pasta dishes.

The history of the winery, founded by Gino and then handed over to the Bianchi-Bernetti family, focuses on the local grape varieties, Verdicchio and Montepulciano.  Together with...
